The Process of Creating Photographs on Gold Pigment

This is a new body of work created by artist Jim Swallow. Each image is on a special  paper hand coated with iridescent gold emulsion. The emulsion is painted on the paper with several coats then it is dried and pressed  After the  paper is coated it is then printed using a wide format pigment printer. Maximum size of 40 inches by 84 inches can be created. I control 100 percent of the process and each image is created one at a time. As the solution varies slightly from one image to the next each and the brush strokes or sponging technique varies it created a one of a kind image.
