To Jim trees are a gift from God. Trees provide so many benefits to all life. A tree will shield us from the sun, clean the air, prevent soil erosion, reduce noise, save water, conserve energy, provide food, create a shelter for all of his creatures, bring people together and so much more. Trees reach to the sky and praise the Lord all day long, their roots are firmly rooted in his very creation.
Jim is a distinguished professional photographer and artist with a passion for capturing the world through his lens.
Celebrating his 50th year in the art of photography, Jim has mastered a vast array of techniques, evolving from printing his own work 50 years ago to perfecting the art of digital printing today. Jim’s gold work, a unique and meticulously developed process, has become a hallmark of his talent, setting him apart as the only artist in the country to employ this method. Currently, Jim is making strides in the field of stereography and proudly secured 1st place & Treadwell Award in the National Stereoscopic Association annual competition in 2024. One of his enduring passions is photographing trees, which he views as magnificent entities that connect the earth to the heavens, offering praise to the Lord.
A poem was created by a young student, Miriam Sauve, using each of the photographs as inspiration. Her words will inspire you to love the trees that surround us.
Poet Miriam Sauve
Miriam is a young teen who has overcome years of tough circumstances beyond her control. But, similar to what we see in Genesis- what the devil meant for evil, God meant for good . She took to reading stories very young which eventually led her to writing and telling the stories herself. Like many of the trees in this book, Miriam has not just survived the unthinkable, she has somehow figured out how to thrive in it. Miriam is a magnificently talented author, artist, sibling and daughter. She lives in St Pete, Fl with her mom, dad, 5 siblings and two dogs. Miriam is a student of Pinellas County Virtual, Flex. She is a Child of God steadily transforming into a Proverbs 31 woman.
A selection of trees has been created in 3D using techniques that have been used for over 150 years. You will have the opportunity to view stereoscopic images of a large selection of Bonsai trees and other trees using antique stereoscopes to view trees like you have never seen before during the opening reception. It is hard to look at a 2d version of a tree and get a feeling of the shape and texture. I have been working with stereography for over a decade to create images that come alive in print.
